HARMONY PRAYER REFLECTIONA Reflection on the Harmony PrayerIntroduction In the year 2000, when former President Estrada declared the total war in Mindanao I proposed to my friends to pray more for peace in order to become stronger in the commitment for dialogue and peace. With this spirit, the Harmony Chain Initiative was launched by Silsilah Dialogue Movement not only for Silsilah but for all. The initiative is: 1. An inter-faith initiative of meditation and prayer for dialogue and peace; The initiative has been introduced in many countries, especially through the “Harmony Prayer” that I prepared to express the basic points of our prayer in our cry for peace and the “Harmony Prayer Song”, by Nonong Buencamino, with the support of film director Ms. Marilou Diaz-Abaya. The Harmony prayer is presented here in four parts in the form of modules and reflection. These reflections are for all, most especially for Muslims and Christians. I am convinced that it can help Muslims and Christians to find a deeper motivation in praying the Harmony prayer and to be faithful to the Harmony Chain Initiative. Fr. Sebastiano D'Ambra, PIME

We cry for peace in the world today and that cry is expressed in the Harmony Prayer. Divided into four parts, each part starts with the invocation “0 Lord... ". This is the common attribute of God who is called with different names (Yahweh, Allah, Divine Being, etc.). It unifies, in a special way, the Christians and the Muslims to whom we address this reflection, using points of reference common to the two faiths. We hope that this reflection will be also an inspiration for people of other religions. We wish to reach all to deepen together our cry for peace through the Harmony Prayer. The Harmony Prayer guides us to a basic message expressed in the slogan of the Harmony Chain initiative: “CRY PEACE WITH YOUR LIFE-IN.-DIALOGUE" |
